本系創立至今已有八十八年之悠久歷史，現在的學制結合大學部、碩士班及博士班，已發展成為一完整學制，歷年畢業校友表現非常傑出，工作分佈各行各業，他們的職業包括教授，法官，律師，政府機構之林業人員，董事長 ... 等，對國家社會貢獻殊偉，值得欽佩及效法。

本系座落於國立嘉義大學蘭潭校區

國立嘉義大學歷史淵遠流長，民國89年2月1日由國立嘉義師範學院及國立嘉義技術學院兩校整合而成，是台灣近幾十年來大學校院整合成功的首例與典範，為雲嘉地區最具歷史與規模的綜合大學。
